What We’re Looking Forward to at BMSS 39

Marvin Shaw’s Keynote Speech
There’s been much talk about the possibilities and limitations of real-time volatile analysis in our industry and whether or not it’s possible in a real environment. That’s why the Anatune team is very much looking forward to hearing Marvin Shaw speak at BMSS 39. If anyone can shed some light on the matter, it’ll be him and his speech: Evaluation of Selected Ion Flow Tube Mass Spectrometry for VOC Concentration and Emission determination in Beijing – Automation and Calibration Considerations.
We’re interested to hear how the advantages of the SIFT-MS allowing for real-time measurement of volatiles can be exploited to measure a dynamic and complex environment such as Beijing’s urban air.

Dispersive Liquid Liquid Micro Extraction as used by John Quick at ALS
DLLME has been somewhat of a hot topic this year, especially within the Water and Environmental fraternity.
John Quick is giving a presentation on Thursday at 14:00 in Wolfson, which should describe exactly what all the fuss is about. John is one of the leading minds who is putting it into practice within a commercial environment and the Anatune delegates are all looking forward to hearing his insights on the subject.
We have a room at BMSS 39 where there will be a GERSTEL MultiPurpose Sampler demonstrating Dispersive Liquid Liquid Micro Extraction for you to see. There will also be videos running and posters hanging that help explain how some of the applications work.
