The ability to automate routine laboratory tasks can be beneficial in both saving staff time and improving the reproducibility of the procedure. This note describes the use of the GERSTEL MPS PrepStation for the automated derivatisation of fatty acids and deuterated fatty acid surrogates. This study was performed using an off-line MPS PrepStation configuration for operational convenience as shown below. The system would work equally well in an on-line configuration.
