I've been working on the extraction of PAHs from soils again this week. We have a fairly crude method whereby we extract 2 grams of soil in conjunction with 1g of copper. To the soil sample the Gerstel Multi Purpose Sampler (MPS) adds 2ml of acetone and the soil/acetone slurry is mixed for 15 minutes in an agitator. So I've been working on the Vitamin D methodology this week, we are almost ready to start demoing the system to customers....at the heart of the methodology is a solvent facilitated protein crash, which is working really well. .....So Agilent were here at the end of last week and the beginning of this one, fitting the turbo pump upgrade and multimode ionisation source to allow me to get cracking with the Vitamin D work, we are looking to automate the protein precipitation of serum samples and then automate the SPE coupled to LC-QQQ....
